2nd Culture paid for WGA with revenue earned from frame sales and ad revenue. This means that there were no loans, no investors, and no one paid out with personal money. Entirely self-contained.
This means ZERO RISK. We could make the film, and not make a penny, and NO ONE is hurt by it.
Now. In the interest of showing what we've shot (and my interest in proving our business model by MAKING money) - we put up a 30 second montage of RAW footage from the shoot on the weekend. We've made 84 cents in 2 days from the ad on the video.
I should emphasize: Short films rarely if EVER make any money. And even less seldom do they come close to covering their costs. (unless they win first prize at a festival - now consider the number of festivals, number of entries - you get the picture...) But with 2nd Culture's business model, WGA has not only covered it's costs (before principal photography), but in 2 days it's MADE 84 cents.
I should mention: Jeremy hasn't started editing the footage yet!
So 2nd Culture has officially produced it's first film (short), and has turned a profit the day after principal photography, and BEFORE post-production is complete...
