So here we are. DAYS until shooting. I don’t feel like barfing yet but I’m sure it’s going to happen..say…friday afternoon. HERE is the updated shotlist for the parking garage:
Keith, Dan, Zoe and I walked through it last night and it’s looking pretty solid. Hopefully we can squeeze in another rehearsal before the weekend.
So yeah…juuust about everyone is cast now. Casting is kind of a mixed bag of emotions. Actors pour themselves out onto the floor for you and you’ve got to choose the best one. You’re happy with your choice but sad for those that didn’t get picked.
Acting is hard…if you don’t think so just try it. Try a little experiment with me. Get into a room with 6+ people watching your every move. done? Good…now commit 4-5 pages of dialogue and action to memory. Rehearse each line and each action 20-30 times over. Debate the minutiae of each beat with yourself. Try not to sweat. Look happy to be there. Remember everyone’s name. Try not to second guess what you’re wearing. Now! as quickly as you can go from “I’m just happy to be here” to “Person who’s just lost a loved one and is crying their eyes out in desperation.” How’d you do? Was is believable?
In any case…to everyone that didn’t make it. I TRULY appreciate you coming out. Seeing all the different ways that people read the script is inspiring. And when you GET the character it really makes the writers happy too.
Here’s a quick video I did over the weekend with Melanie - our Production Designer. She’s a great person to work with and I’m starting to learn that when she’s on a production you don’t have anything to worry about.
So here’s some of the animatics I’ve been promsing. A couple shots placed together with the magestic sound of my voice to guide you through.
We’ve also got 2 new people coming to join us for the 2nd Culture crew. I’m excited to announce that Zoe Sanguinetti will be going us as a producer, and Laurena Miller (soon to be Pollock) will be joining us as a project manager. They will both be doing their own blog posts starting soon, so we’ll have a few more voices to hear from.
So we’re still looking for actors. It seems to be the one black spot in this project. Everything else is coming together very nicely. I was just speaking to Kari about a couple things…but mainly not freaking out. This seems to be a trend here at 2C.
My personal freak out being that I have everything I could ask for except actors. Of course that’s going to change this weekend when we have our auditions. If you’re reading this and are a great actor please visit our WGA site and get in touch with our producer Kari.
Didn’t Viggo Mortensen get hired like a week before they started shooting LOTR? I think we’ll be fine….we’ll be fine.
So Dan and I went back to Shaw with lights and a determination to figure out how this is going to look. I’ve got probably two other vlog’s from yesterday so consider this 1 of 3.
